Save the date for Summer Mifgash 2023: TBD

Mifgash Choref 5783 - Winter Encounter in Israel: Dec. 20 - 31, 2022!
Dates might flex one day or two depending on airfare.

We are excited to share that Midrasha teens will continue the Mifgash adventure this winter!  This 10-day trip to Israel during Hanukkah features home hosting by our Israeli friends and high school partners from Israel. Daily bus trips will take us all around Israel, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and other destinations.

Our goals for Mifgash are:

  • Emphasis on these Jewish values: K'lal Israel (We are one community of Jews)Tikkun Olam (Repairing the world) and Kef (Fun)

  • To grow our Jewish teens' relationships to Israel by building friendships between our teens and Israeli peers

  • To strengthen relationships between our teens and the people of Israel

  • To serve as a catalyst for further Israel - Diaspora relationship building and programming

  • To develop a deeper connection to Israel through personal relationships and experiential learning

  • To share our culture and our Jewish lives in Israel and the United States

Participation:

We are limiting participation to 8 - 12 teens. Here are the considerations that will be weighed when choosing this year's participants:

  • Involvement in Mifgash the Summer of 2022

  • Grade in high school.  (For example, a current 12th grader might get picked over a 9th grader who could go with us next year.)

  • Participation in Jewish community life.

  • The student has a valid passport through June 2023.

Cost:

4,000 includes plane ticket and experiences while in Israel. This cost does not include cell phones, passport expenses, health insurance, spending money, incidentals or the gift for your host family. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit.

Please do not let cost be a barrier to your teen participating.  Our community offers multiple financial support mechanisms that are both need based and non-need based including but not limited to:

  • The Israel Within Reach grant is a need-blind program (meaning applicants are judged solely on their merits, irrespective of their ability to pay)  that covers $500 of the trip cost.

  • There are more scholarship opportunities that we will be sharing upon registration.

Deadlines:

  • Registration is due October 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. f we don't have enough have enough attending, we will cancel the trip and refund the deposit.

  • We will confirm the trip by October 12, 2022.
